ANNE ARUNDEL – An Edgewater man was charged with assault after he pointed an Uzi-style weapon at his ex-girlfriend and another man while pulling alongside their car, said Anne Arundel police.

John Carmine Cinicola III, 19, is accused of pulling his silver Jeep alongside another vehicle about 4 p.m. on Underwood Road near Tabor Road, and then pointing a gun at the male driver and his female passenger, police said.

Police said Cinicola told the driver, “You think I won’t use this?” and then tried to force the female passenger to get into his Jeep.

The driver and female passenger pulled away from Cinicola’s Jeep into a safe location and reported the incident to police.

The female passenger told police Cinicola was her ex-boyfriend.

When police later arrested Cinicola on Thursday, they recovered a Tech 9 semi-automatic handgun from his residence.

He is charged with first- and second-degree assault, handgun violations and reckless endangerment.
